“Double Standard DBL IPA” Takes 2nd Place at Bistro DBL IPA Festival

Double Standard Double IPA took 2nd place in the category of Double IPA at the highly competitive “Double IPA Festival” held at the Bistro in Hayward, CA. A total of 46 Double IPA’s and 26 Triple IPA’s were judged in the “hop-forward” competition.

Double IPA:
1st Place: After Burner, Kinetic Brewing
2nd Place: Double Standard, Third Street Aleworks
3rd Place: Hop Salad, Triple Rock

Congrats to Triple Rock and Kinetic- always nice to be in good company!

And Big Congrats to our Brewmaster Randy Gremp and Asst. Brewer Tyler Laverty for putting out such a tasty yet balanced beer in such a challenging category. This is only the fifth batch of DBL Standard brewed to date, and we’re looking forward to many more! Third Street Aleworks made its mark on the brewing world in very traditional Anglo-Celtic styles like English-Style Pale Ale, Extra Bitters, Dry Irish Stout, and also Cask Conditioned ales… but in recent years many accolades (including medals from the Great American Beer Festival) for more aggressive “West Coast” ales (like Puddle Jumper and Bombay Rouge) have really been streaming in. It is a testament to their skills that Randy and Tyler can put out a top notch, aggressive, hop forward beer like a Double Standard Double IPA, or a Bombay Rouge, alongside more subtle, nuanced beers like Annadel Pale Ale, Blarney Sisters’ d.i. Stout, or a clean Dunkel Lager. Variety is the spice of life! Thanks for keeping it spicy brewers! And way to go with the Double Standard!

Double Standard Double IPA is currently on tap at the pub and we anticipate that it will last apx 2 weeks. Please check the “ON TAP NOW” section of the website to view what we have on tap in real time. There was a very small limited release bottling, however bottles are only available for sale at the pub in Santa Rosa. Growlers are also available for sale. We ask that customers please limit bottle and growler purchases to one bottle/growler per person/per visit. Cheers!
